PARK(ING) IT ON SHERMAN – BLOCK PARTY

When: Friday, September 16, 5:00 PM-9:00 PM

The 1200 block of Sherman Avenue will host a FREE block party and parking spaces will be turned into public spaces as part of global Park(ing) Day. This second annual event is part of the visioning and master planning effort to revitalize East Sherman. Event highlights including music, an outdoor movie, live mural painting, a pop-up town hall meeting, and other entertainment. The headliner will be reggae band Sol Seed Friday starting at 5pm ($5 admission for this concert only). Schedule of events soon to follow!

Live art will be going down on custom long boards by Ryan Allen and 80s original decks by Jeremy Deming and Scott Lakeyprovided by Michael Nathan Wixom

Morning Urban Sketching in Spokane’s Historic Browne’s Addition Neighborhood

Multiple sessions available from Sat 30 Jul 2016 to Sat 27 Aug 2016

This course provides adults and mature teenagers of all skills levels the opportunity to learn to capture the essence of sketching outdoors. The course starts on the Museum’s campus and will focus on utilizing expressive line. The course includes a discussion on drawing houses and then moves onto tips for sketching outdoors. Students will then make portraits of an instructor selected home or building located within Spokane’s historic and beautiful Browne’s Addition Neighborhood in a loose and creative way.

Animals In Art Northwest Museum Spokane, Wa

In this engaging exhibition, birds, horses, sheep, cows, bears, and more serve as the subjects of works of art from the 17th century through the late 20th century. Perennially popular as an artistic theme, animals have been depicted in works of art since pre-historic times. This exhibition examines etchings, engravings, lithographs, sculpture, oils and watercolors that depict the tremendous variety of the animal kingdom.

If you missed out on Spokane’s ArtFest, you’ve got another chance to meet some of the region’s most renowned visual artists in person, ask them about their craft, or even send your kids to weeklong ArtShop classes for visual and performing arts. From art to entertainment, food, wine, and activities for the kids, the Art on the Green Festival in Coeur d’Alene is a long-standing artistic tradition. Going on its 45th year — it was once the simple Coeur d’Alene Art Festival held on North Idaho College’s tennis courts — the festival hosts more than 50,000 visitors each year at NIC.
