On June 28, 2025, the Santa Ynez High School Library got a visual upgrade with a new mural by local artists Lakey and @zlakey, bringing some color, curiosity, and creativity to a space traditionally known for being quiet.
In collaboration with ArtcoLab, the mural was designed to complement the spirit of the library—part academic, part imaginative, and fully student-centered. Lakey’s work strikes that balance, offering visual energy without overwhelming the calm of the space.
It’s a reminder that school environments don’t have to feel sterile to be functional. A well-placed mural can shift the tone of a space, making it more inviting for students to read, think, and linger a bit longer.
At ArtcoLab, we’re always glad to support public projects that make everyday spaces a little more inspiring—especially when the audience includes future creators.
More projects like this coming soon.
